Midges, like flies, come in different species, but they can all be divided into two categories: biting midges and fruit flies.

As the name suggests, biting midges feed on our blood and bite us painfully, while fruit flies prefer fruit and vegetables. Whereas the former are annoying with their painful bites, the latter are annoying with their presence.
